As much as you may love your HP printer, you don't want to spend more than it is worth repairing it! As a general rule, if your HP printer cost less than $200 new (and you don't have a surplus of ink or toner cartridges), you may be better off looking at replacement options.

Toner is more expensive than ink upfront. However, a toner cartridge lasts much longer than an ink cartridge, which can dry up and clog if used too infrequently. From a cost per page standpoint, toner is less expensive.
